Second Alpharetta location in less than 18 months shows hunger for specialty desserts in the Southeast
ALPHARETTA, Ga. – February 2, 2021 – Alpharetta residents Lisa and Dave Amundsen opened Le Macaron in North Point Mall in October 2019 and will open a second location this month at Avalon, an upscale, mixed use development and shopping area in Alpharetta. The Avalon location will be the first-of-its-kind outdoor mobile kiosk in all of Le Macaron’s approximately 70 locations nationwide.
With just about 90 square feet of space, the Amundsen’s Le Macaron kiosk will be a cozy and intimate addition to Avalon’s spacious footprint. Beyond those simple yet elegant French patisseries called macarons, the new kiosk will offer eclairs, tarts, mini-tarts, napoleons, gourmet chocolates, meringues, cakes and specialty beverages including Lorina, a sparkling French lemonade.
“Following the success of our full service café in Northpoint Mall, we are excited to launch the very first outdoor kiosk design for the whole brand nationwide,” said Lisa Amundsen, Le Macaron Alpharetta owner. “We worked with Le Macaron’s corporate designers and builders to make this our very own unique space at Avalon and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. We look forward to sharing the new kiosk design with our fellow franchisees nationwide.”
Lisa and her husband Dave Amundsen co-own both Le Macaron Alpharetta franchise locations. After Dave’s corporate downsizing, the Amundsens fulfilled a life-long dream of working for themselves. Le Macaron was a good fit because there was little competition in the upscale Alpharetta market and it was a perfect business to merge Lisa’s hospitality background with Dave’s 26-year career in finance and accounting.
A macaron is a light and airy, flavorful and colorful, bite-sized cookie, widely considered the gem of French pastry. It’s simple yet elegant and adds an upscale international flavor option to Alpharetta’s Avalon in an accessible outdoor kiosk. Popular macaron flavors include Madagascar black vanilla, Belgian chocolate, Sicilian pistachio, red velvet, rose, bubble gum, salted caramel, lemon cream and Columbian coffee – when lined up in an assorted display, they make a beautiful, colorful, rainbow statement.
All macarons are hand-made with no artificial flavors or preservatives by Chef Didier Saba, born, raised, and trained in France. Chef Didier’s team makes all the macarons with almond flour, so they are naturally gluten-free and only about 80 calories each. Chef Didier also hand-crafts assorted other pastries including eclairs, napoleons, lemon meringue and chocolate coconut tarts and full-sized cakes for special occasions.
Le Macaron offers catering for both corporate and social events and delivery is available throughout the Atlanta metro area via DoorDash and Grubhub. The shop offers contactless payment options and has hand sanitizer available for their guests. The Le Macaron staff practices typical safety measures including glove and mask wearing, frequently surface sanitizing and plentiful hand washing.
